Bird’s nest ferns prefer medium to low light. Higher light will cause the leaves to crinkle, and too much light will cause the fronds to yellow and die. Ideally the soil would be consistently moist but not wet. A bird’s nest fern can tolerate drying out occasionally where other ferns might crisp up and die. Most ferns require high humidity, but the bird’s nest fern is an exception, making it a great fern for an owner who may forget about it occasionally. Still, avoid putting it in a drafty spot.
